Did you know Quark VR is based in Bulgaria?
If you did not know that there is a VR company based in Bulgaria you are not alone, let us give you a background into what makes this company Valve’s choice. Quark VR is a company based in Bulgaria that primarily works on VR software, as they currently have there own software development kit (SDK) which allows developers the ability to stream VR games that have been developed using great game engines like Unity and the Unreal Engine into your headset. Even though streaming is not a new idea, Quark VR and Valve might have made a wireless HTC Vive which will add to an already epic VR experience.
According to Quark, this is not an official Vive but it its a prototype that functions in such a way that it apparently is connected to a single-board pc and a small battery via a small transmitter, that the user can place in there pocket or clip it to there belts. The transmitter will send and receive the signal between the PC and the HTC Vive through the wireless transmission. Quark also stated that Valve and various other companies are supporting Quark in this project. According to sources the support offered by OpenVR integration and support with hardware.
One challenge that arose was the issue of latency between the wireless device/transmitter and the PC that you are using the VR on, however Quark have stated they plan tohave a succesful showing of there prototype this November.
” We recognized the need of a wireless HTC Vive even before the successful platform was released. After its launch we organized a VR event that was free to attend in our hometown of Sofia, Bulgaria and the 1000+ visitors fell in love with HTC Vive. However, most of them were quite disturbed by the cables in their feet or above their head.” – Victoria Victorova, Community & Marketing Manager for Intugame
