South Africa Ranked 5th In IeSF world rankings

South Africa has good news ahead of 7th World Championship

If you live under a rock then you might have not known that South Africa is one of the world’s leading eSports Federations when it comes to organizing tournaments and hosting large crowds at those tournaments. The International e-Sports Federation or IeSF have just sent out their annual rankings of all the federations that lead in the processes and general fair play in gaming administration.

South Africa was 12th in the world last year and according to these rankings, the IeSF has ranked MSSA 5th in the world in 2016.

Who are Mind Sports South Africa & What do they do?

MSSA is an affiliate of the South African Confederation of Sport and Olympic Committee and makes up the official representative of South Africa in international tournaments.

The MSSA is responsible for the good governance, fairplay and promotion of not only video games but also Board games which include: Backgammon, Checkers, Draughts, Morabaraba and most other board games. They also promote Card games, Robotics and of course eSports that are played on various platforms, from smartphones to the latest consoles.

Statement from the President of MSSA

MSSA’s President, Simphiwe Maphumulo, stated that he is very satisfied with the ranking. He also stated that the improved ranking shows MSSA’s competitiveness within the international community, as well as its ability to deliver in the local communities. The South African gaming community is growing at a rapid pace and with this increase in online gameplay as well as online spectators this ranking will only add to this trend.
