Daybreak Reveals H1Z1 Elite Series, New Esports Circuit

A whopping $1 million up for grabs! 

Daybreak Games earlier this week announced the Elite Series, which is a new Esports circuit focused on bringing all the best players in the single-elimination, massive arena shooter H1Z1: King of the Kill. These tournaments will be held across the various continents, in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. Daybreak has also announced that each event in the Elite Series will feature a $250,000 ( R3,2 million) prize pool, for a total of $1 million ( R12,8 million) in prize money.

The Elite Series Tournament is starting at DreamHack Atlanta from 21 – 23 July, the H1Z1 tournaments will begin with one for solo players with a prize pool of $100,000 (R1,2 million) and one for 5-player teams with a prize pool of $150,000 (R1,9 million). The 5-player team competition will feature the winners of the H1Z1: Fight for the Crown Tournament  World Best Gaming, Denial Esports and Counter Logic Gaming. Each tournament will reserve a majority of seats for participants who qualify in preliminary rounds on-site at DreamHack Atlanta.

It’s an arena for the best head-to-head H1Z1 action and will undoubtedly have viewers and players on the edge of their seat,” said Mark Tuttle, director of esports at Daybreak. “There is nothing that can match the scale or intensity of an H1Z1 tournament where everyone is dropped in together, competing amidst the mayhem to be the last one standing, and we are excited to continue to develop this new genre of esports.”   

How To Qualify?

  • Registered players will be broken up into 2 groups, each playing 2 matches.
  • Matches are scored and cumulative points determine overall placement.
  • Top 20 players from each group will proceed to the finals.
  • The next 5 from each group will be selected as standbys in case of any no-shows in the finals.
  • Order of the standbys is determined by their overall score in the qualifiers.
  • Solo Qualifiers take place on Friday, July 21, 2017
  • The Solo Tournament takes place on Saturday Night, July 22, 2017
