Sony Announces “PlayStation Classic” Mini Console

PlayStation Classic launches on 3 December at $100

Sony has announced its own mini classic console today called the PlayStation Classic, a mini version of the PlayStation One.  They also stated that it comes with 20 “generation-defining” games, including  Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms., and arrives on 3 December which is the day that the original PlayStation launched in 1994. The mini version is 45 percent smaller than the original PlayStation, and as you can see in the video, it captures the look of the system is based on, including its controllers.

The PlayStation Classic comes with a HDMI cable, a USB cable for power, and two original PSone controllers — yes, the ones without analogue sticks. In a nice touch, the Open button on the machine switches between games, while the Reset button will suspend play. It launches on 3rd December, which some might recognise as the same date the PlayStation first launched in Japan back in 1994.

As for price, the PlayStation Classic will set you back £89.99 / €99.99 / $99.99
