Red Dead Redemption 2 – 5 very important things to know

Red Dead Redemption 2

With it being launch week of Red Dead Redemption 2 we have made a selection of the various things you can do from the dynamic gameplay and how approaching the open world can have a major impact on future in-game missions as well as emphasis on some of the activities and  interesting elements that have emerged so far from the previews on Red Dead Redemption 2 . Since this is a prequel to the original game, expect to run into very familiar faces!

Dialogues and their consequences

Red Dead Redemption 2 has a massive script, almost 500,000 lines of dialogue from the main story and various side missions you will do where you will meet some very sketchy characters that either need saving or some un(bearable) task that keeps you coming back for more. Not only is there a lot of dialogue, but there are also consequences to the way you approach conversations, for example, you can engage in dialogue at any time and can interact with the characters and depending on the conditions of Arthur NPCs will react differently, so if Arthur is covered in blood expect them to be a little nervous. Oh an also if you turn off the in-game minimap, you can ask for directions and you will be directed into the general direction, which means players can completely turn off the HUD display and will be able to use the companion app to get to their next waypoint,  which is pretty neat especially if you want to fully immerse yourself in those times.

Cooking and crafting to survive

Like in other open world and survival games you will have the inclusion and the need to craft and cook dishes based on ingredients you find in the game and to craft various objects useful for survival in the Wild West, be prepared to use pots, make fires to ensure your survival in Red Dead Redemption 2. Fishing, hunting and gathering resources trigger the ability to cook and create or modify objects, all based on recipes and projects that can be discovered and purchased within the various marketplaces and shops in the game. The different use of the various parts of prey leads to different opportunities for exploitation of materials, in addition to the collection of various objects cooking and crafting can be useful both for Arthur who can eat the food himself, or sharing it with the  Van der Linde gang, which will boost the morale of the gang.

Being Arthur in the Dutch Van der Linde Gang

One of the key features of Red Dead Redemption 2 is its focus on Arthurs journey within the Dutch Van der Linde gang who are notorious in this part of the far west between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.  Not only is there an obtuse amount of violence being a gang member there is also riding alongside John Marston, yes the John Marston from the first Red Dead Redemption as you bring the gangs story in full swing . There are many things to do, from the essential needs of the camp to the most personal requests of the members, with the ability to dig into the background of the various characters and discover interesting memories and stories that make you question the morales of Arthur and other members of the gang.

A vast and open world with loads to discover

The Red Dead Redemption 2 environments are vast and have plentiful ecosystems that sustain a large quantity of animal and vegetables that are part of a  complex system, that also offers various new experiences in the wild as you deviate from the beaten track. The behaviour of the characters in the game are as realistic and convincing as they would be in day to day life,  as said previously while the choices made by you with your gang members or with the environment it will have some major consequences on the scenario and on society.  With Red Dead Redemption 2 it looks like Rockstar Games are set to change the open world genre by being more realistic and adaptive compared to various other open world games.

The relationship with your horse

Rockstar has made a number of changes regarding your relationship with the horses in Red Dead Redemption 2  some small some a little more noticeable for example, not only is mounting a horse a necessity it has been updated to be a more accurate portrayal in terms of appearance, behaviour and animations, this attention is also reflected in the relationship that you establish with the horse. In fact, there is a link between Arthur and his own steed, which grows as time goes on and with the care you  show to the animal, nurturing this relationship is important in order to create a stronger bond which in the long run allows you to transport greater quantities of materials, being able to count on better skills move and have a more precise control and making the horse even less likely to be afraid of threats and stay with you no matter what.
